We own an antique business nearby and have used Barrington Pack and Ship numerous times to ship expensive paintings, folk art, etc. We can recommend this store without reservation. Many of our customers have provided follow-up on how well items have been packed. As for friendly/unfriendly, we have never experienced anything but the friendliest attitude and willingness to go above and beyond to satisfy our needs.
But that's up to him, and good luck; I won't be going back there to find out.
Maybe it was an off day or something, but based on the other comments here, it seems like this guy Joe (if it was him, and not a fill-in shmoe with a chip on his shoulder) could take notice and check his attitude when it comes to what people might reasonably expect from someone running a pack & ship business. (Or any business, really.)
Anyone who could possibly describe Joe as rude must have come in with an attitude. I love the small town personal service, which has been invaluable to me. One of the reasons I live where I live.
Joe was friendly and helpful. I sent two FedEx envelopes last week. Convenient location. Need to get your fedex's there by 4 P.M. I appreciated his kindness. Be sure to congratulate him on his recent hole-in- one.
I love going to Barrington Pack and Ship. Jo is always exceedingly helpful, not to mention kind. One of the best businesses in the area!
I was treated like an unwelcome pest for calling ahead to find out whether the end-of-day FedEx pickup had happened yet. No question of attitude on my part; all I did was ask when I got there if the pickup had come since my call (a few minutes before); got a pretty blatantly rude earful about how he's too busy, he's not my secretary, etc., etc.
